After months of hard work, residents of St. Mary's Place, Kilgetty, and their near neighbours of Carmarthen Road, will be switching on their Christmas lights tomorrow (Saturday).

But their festive illuminations are not the usual Yuletide display seen at most homes, for the adults and children living on the estate have not only decked the halls, but also the walls, windows and roofs of their properties to create what promises to be a spectacular winter wonderland exhibition featuring thousands of coloured fairy lights and motifs.

As well as helping to bring some seasonal cheer to the hundreds of visitors that pass by to see the after-dark show, the residents hope that their efforts will also raise funds for the Trust Fund set up to help young Aimee Williams, of Narberth, and QUACKS, the charity which supports Kilgetty and Saundersfoot Medical Centres.

And it will be 11-year-old Aimee, who is very ill with kidney failure, who will officially switch on the lights at 6 pm.

Also dropping in to join in the fun of the grand 'switch-on' will be Father Christmas, who will be arriving on his reindeer-pulled sleigh, accompanied by his helpers, at 5.45 pm, and will be distributing sweets to all the youngsters.

At this busy time of year, the residents and the businesses around St. Mary's Place have given Father Christmas a hand by organising a collection to fund the sweets.

All the residents this year have added extra Christmas lights and decorations to their properties and they are hoping to top last year's magnificent charity collection, which saw over £5,000 being donated to the Pembrokeshire branch of the Paul Sartori Foundation.

For those wishing to give this year, a donation box will once again be placed on the wall of Donreka, 1 St. Mary's Place.
