A strawberry tea was held at the Kilgetty Begelly Community Centre last week, with the winners and runners up of the recent Kilgetty in Bloom competition awarded their certificates and trophies.

Jerry Long (chair of the Community Association) and Margaret Moffatt conducted the presentation of the prizes.

“The turn out was excellent and most of the entrants were present,” said Jerry.

“It was lovely to see so many people after the last two years and the standard of the gardens were excellent and made the judge’s job very difficult.

Winners and runners-up were as follows:

Class 1: Front Garden Hanging Baskets - winner, K. Allen; runner up, J. Long.

Class 2: Rear Garden - S and D Moore; K. Allen.

Class 3: Window Boxes - R R Buchann; S and D Moore.

Class 4: Over 75 Gardener - D. Payne’ J. Lynch.

Class 5: Original Theme Garden - D. Payne; K. Skelton.

Class 6: First Time Entry Front/Rear - K. Aleen; J. Long.

Class 7: Vegetable Garden -S. Jones; J. Greening.

Class 8: Pond/Water Feature - G. Lewis; D. Payne.

Class 9: Creative Feature -

S and D Moore; K. Hammer.

Class 10: Shillingford Park
