Last Saturday evening, Kilgetty Cricket Club held their annual dinner-dance at the Cartwheel Restaurant in Amroth.

After a wonderful meal, chairman Ted George congratulated the players on their excellent start on the road to recovery. He informed the large attendance that not only had the seniors won the Sixth Division Cup, but that he was also delighted to boast the success of two newly-formed junior sides and their amazing following this season.

He thanked the parents for their help in transporting the youngsters to away games and also for their support. He also thanked president, Dr. Roy Allen, for his guidance in coaching the Under 13s and Louise Waters for all her work in initiating the Under 11s.

Gwyneth Johns was thanked for her assistance in scoring for the seniors, as was Mike Evans for his umpiring skills. Ian Poole and Bryan (Shoni) Davies were thanked in their absence for all the work in maintaining an excellent wicket.

After reminding the senior players of one or two of the many amusing incidents, in what was a very successful and enjoyable season, he told them categorically that he now expected the Fifth Division Cup on the table at next year's dinner.

The Michael (Ferret) James Memorial Trophy, presented each season to the highest scoring batsman, was awarded to captain Graham Jenkins for his 642 league runs. This award is kindly donated each year by Mike's cousin, Mr. Colin Williams, who was unfortunately unable to attend. The chairman therefore presented it in his absence.

The Players Player of the Year trophy was awarded to Graham Jenkins (Adge said it was because the rest of the players couldn't spell his name).

Dr. Roy Allen ended the presentations by presenting secretary Rose Jenkins with a beautiful pot plant for all her help in acquiring grants from the Sports Council for Wales's Community Chest scheme.

The evening ended with a photograph being given to the club, by Brian Slate, for display in the archives. Dancing and much frivolity then ensued.
