A Kik-Plastic tour will be coming to Tenby next month, with the organisers looking to connect with local businesses, groups and schools in the community that might want to get involved.
Departing from London on May 5, the Kik-Plastic tour will see world record ocean rower Kiko Matthews cycle 7200km of the Great British coastline, participating in over 70 beach cleans along the way.
Each day, Kiko will be joined by local cyclists ready to dust off their bikes and helmets and come out and cycle.
Working with existing beach clean organisers, such as the Marine Conservation Society, Keep Britain Tidy, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) and British Kitesurfing Association, the tour aims to reach as many people as possible, and to expand the growing beach cleaner network around the UK, leaving a lasting legacy in local communities.
The tour will be coming to Tenby on the evening of Tuesday, May 28, where there will also be the chance for locals to hop on a bike and join a leg of the cycle.
Speaking about the event at Tuesday night’s meeting of Tenby town council, the Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane said that it would be worthwhile putting the organisers in touch with the local cycling groups to see if they wanted to join in, whilst Clr. Laurence Blackhall said that the ‘Plastic Free Tenby’ group would also get involved with the event.
