Forty-two people turned out for the Valentine's Mixed Foursomes on Saturday. The weather was damp and uninviting, and there were a few reluctant starters, but it did dry up and everyone was pleased that they had made the effort.

There was only one two in the whole field and that was on the 12th by club president, Geoff Aston. His wife Eiona must have had a brilliant putt!

The bag draw was done by Rhys in the pro shop, and thanks to him and David for doing the cards and taking the money. It was won by Nesta and Peter Hart.

Third place in the competition went to Linda Evans and Nigel Ayers with 35 points. Nesta and Peter Hart came second with 37, but the winning score of 39 was returned by club treasurer Ken Gouldsbrough and Julie Lovett. Julie had not played in a mixed event before, but it was obviously a format she enjoyed.

It was wonderful to see so many of the new ladies joining in, and thanks also to the men for helping to make it so successful.

Many returned in the evening for a meal and a dance, which was a very pleasant end to a lovely day. Thanks from the ladies go to club captain, Idwal, for the lovely roses he handed out on their arrival.

Golfers are reminded that the list for the new knock-out competition (the Llewellyn Thomas Salver) is up on the Mixed notice board. The format is straight foursomes matchplay, and each round will have one month in which to organise the game. Hopefully, the final will be played on Finals Day.
