A fundraiser from Tenby who took to the North Beach every day during March to raise funds and awareness for Cancer Research UK has thanked those that supported her challenge.

Katie Jane Leaf immersed herself in cold water every day of the month to help raise money, and thanks to generous donations, so far she has raised £752.74 for the cause.

“I decided to do the cold water challenge for my best friend Emma, she is having chemotherapy for lung and pelvis cancer right now after a very quick diagnosis which lead to a full hysterectomy earlier this year,” explained Katie.

“Emma was with me when I was given some devastating news about my health myself and she was my champion, so I being the bestie that I am wanted to give back and let her know how much I love her! She is an amazing woman with two beautiful daughters.

“With the kindness from my online friends and some beautiful local people and even holiday makers who dropped donations off to Lollies (sweet shop where Katie works) for me!

“Many of my friends have asked if I would keep up my daily video blogs because they would miss them so I've agreed to have a Sunday evening catch up with Katie, which they have named ‘Katie’s Sunday thoughts’ lol, but I hope I can help continue to raise money in the future for any cause that needs it,” she added.
