The county's leading motorsport championship is gearing up for a dramatic showdown on September 12, with two drivers poised to race to the limit to claim the 2010 Pembrokeshire Karting honours.

Sam Joseph, of Swansea, holds a one point advantage over Jason Cole, of Pembroke. Both drivers have shown solid consistency, mixed with raw pace, to assert themselves over their fellow competitors throughout the season.

The other drivers listed in the standings, as well as prospective competitors still have two great opportunities to attend the upcoming event.

'The Smith & Jones Fastest Lap Challenge' will reward the competitor who sets the fastest lap time during the season.

With a mere 1.59 seconds separating all 18 drivers on the leaderboard, it's clear that the contest will go down to the very last lap.

Moreover, every new driver to the championship is eligible to compete for the 'Folly Farm Rookie of the Year' title. Currently headed by Richard Cowl, of Templeton, everyone still has plenty to race for.

Anyone can race in the final round of the year. By taking part, drivers are automatically included in all standings. 2010 features the exclusive use of rolling-starts to each heat and final, eliminating any advantage of a high placed grid based start.

With the event being held at Carew Karting, starting at 10 am, organisers are inviting everyone to come along to either race or watch. For more information or to register to take part in the final event of 2010, please visit http://www.pembrokeshirekarting.co.uk">www.pembrokeshirekarting.co.uk
