Last Friday, Tenby Junior School walked their mile for Ty Hafan. With nearly a quarter of the school away due to illness, they did exceptionally well and raised over £300 for the Tenby Ladies Circle Area Project.
The walk around the football and rugby pitch was followed by a charity football match, where each year group fielded a 16-a-side team against the 'Tenby Tornadoes', alias the teachers, who were rather thin on the ground due to injury!
Year 3 were the first year group to do battle and fought well against the Tornadoes and managed to keep them to a 0-0 draw. Second up were Year 4 who put up an excellent battle and had the Whitehurst Tornado quaking in his wellies!
When Years 5 and Year 6 took to the field, there was a quick head count as there seemed to be so many of them, but it was just because they were taller.
Both teams played some lovely football, with Cox Tornado having to revert to blatant fouling. In fact, Whitehurst and Cox received far too many warnings and were eventually shown the red card.
However, they did return to the game after apologising to the referee, but will be severely punished in the new term for accosting the ref. and drowning her in the mud. They had better watch their backs!
Broomhead and Upham Tornado did well on the left side, with Broomhead explaining to the opposition that the ball was hers and nobody else's!
Special mention of the goalie and central defence; Mr. James' new hairstyle played a huge part and saw making some wonderful saves; his partner in crime also had an excellent game, letting no one pass her under any circumstance.
Congratulations to all those who took part, and well done to everyone on raising such an excellent amount for such a worthwhile cause.
