n last Saturday's May Monthly Medal, two juniors, David Webb and Henrik Jaakola won Division One and Division Two sections respectively.

The conditions were quite horrendous with winds verging on gale force and heavy rain causing many competitors to withdraw.

However, despite these conditions, 65 took cards out, but 30 per cent of those were no returns.

Because of these adverse conditions, the CSS of the day was 75, giving reductions only. As no player got near that figure, the handicaps remained unchanged.

It was also the Welsh Individual Handicap Championship qualifier.

As result of David Webb and Henrik Jaakola winning their respective category, their names go forward for consideration in the national finals to be held at Llandrindod Wells GC in September.

It is was an outstanding achievement of both players. Fourteen-year-old David Webb has recently been playing extremely well, returning some very good away cards leading to his handicap gradually coming down to nine.

Whereas, Henrik Jaakola, who is only 12-year-old, winning the Division Two section by four shots net. He even outshone his more illustrious older brother, 14-year-old Samuel on the day. It certainly augurs well for the future of Tenby GC with young players like this and it will be interesting to see how they progress.

There were four twos, one of them from John Broomhead with a remarkable Eagle on the 18th, while the other three were from Ron Johns, Roger Schooling and David Skyrme, all winning £15.50 each.

Leading medal results: Division One: (Gross in brackets): 1. David Webb - 81 (90), medal and £27.50; 2. Colin Murphy - 82 (92), £16.50; 3. Steven Amos - 84 (89), £11.

Division Two: 1. Henrik Jaakola - 78 (99), medal and £27.50; 2. David Llewellyn - 82 (97), £16.50; 3. Mike Brew - 88 (105) back nine, £11.
