Well-known Narberth High Street butcher Joss Griffiths became the third Narberth Rugby Club supporter to win the first prize of £6,500 in the WRU Lottery in 2007 by winning the December draw. A former Narberth player himself, Joss Griffiths was beaming after receiving the news. Commenting, he said "The money has come just at the right time as we are carrying out some home improvements and we are also planning a short family holiday. "I hope that this win will encourage other rugby supporters to join the WRU Lottery through Narberth Rugby Club". Joss Griffiths is a product of the Llandovery College as well as the Narberth junior and youth sections. He won his school cap at Llandovery College under the tutelage of former St. Luke's, Coventry RFC and Swansea player Goronwy Morgan. Joss Griffiths also played for Narberth Youth, Seconds and first team, but retired prematurely at the age of 19 to concentrate on running the family business. Peter Barrett, Narberth Rugby Club's WRU Lottery co-ordinator, was also over the moon with the win. He said: "I am delighted that Joss Griffiths has won, as he has supported the scheme from its inception. "Remarkably, he is the third Narberth Rugby Club supporter to win first prize in 2007 and the ninth in total." Winners of the first prize in the monthly draw have the option of selecting either the Seat Ibiza car or the cash prize. Anyone wishing to join the lottery scheme can either meet Peter Barrett at the clubhouse or telephone him on (01834) 861941.
