The Rector, Fr. Paul, led the morning Eucharist service in Jeffreyston Church on Sunday. The readings were Acts 1.vv 15 - 17 and 21 - 26, 1.John 5.vv 9 - 13. The Gospel reading was John 17.vv 6 - 19, where we read of Jesus praying for his disciples.

For his sermon, Fr. Paul took as his text verse 18 of the Gospel reading, 'As thou didst send me into the world, so I have sent them into the world'.

Fr. Paul said that as the Spirit of Jesus is within those who believe, they should carry out his command that we use our various God given talents to further the Christian mission.

At the end of the service, Fr. Paul was proud to show the congregation the work done by the Sunday School, with cleverly coloured-in sheets showing the words 'God is always with us'.

Afterwards, Lorna beautifully read the closing prayer based on this.

Evening Eucharist in Jeffreyston Church was led by Fr. Paul. The earlier readings were repeated and in his sermon Fr. Paul expanded on the teaching from the Gospel of John, chapter 17.

Fr. Paul exhorted us to show unity with the Spirit of God, Jesus and one another.

This Sunday at 10.30 am there is a Joint Parishes Eucharist and Sunday School at Jeffreyston.
