The Rector, Fr. Paul, led the morning Eucharist service in Jeffreyston Church, on Sunday, the third Sunday after Epiphany, also the day of celebration for The Conversion of the Apostle Paul.

The readings were Acts 9.vv 1-22, Galatians 1.vv 11-16. The Gospel reading was Matthew 19.vv 24-30, where we read of Salvation and The Rich Young man.

For his sermon, Fr. Paul highlighted verse 18 of the reading from Acts, chapter 9, "And immediately something like scales fell from his eyes and he regained his sight. Then he arose and was baptised."

In an interesting sermon, Fr. Paul explained the circumstances of the conversion of Saul becoming the Apostle Paul. He also referred to words from verse 21 of the same reading "...Is not this man who made havoc in Jerusalem of those who called upon this name..." He emphasised the way in which Paul's life had been changed and how we befit from our own conversions.

At the end of the service, Fr. Paul was proud to show to the congregation the worksheets made in the Sunday School, referring to the Conversion of the Apostle Paul; then Naomi clearly read out the closing prayer.

Rev. Sylvia Temple was the celebrant and Fr. Paul was the preacher at the Eucharist service which followed in St. James' Church, Reynalton. The earlier readings were repeated.

In his sermon, Fr. Paul expanded on the teaching from Acts, chapter 9, concerning the Conversion of Saul to become the Apostle Paul. He also referenced verse 11 of the reading from Galatians, chapter 1, "For I would have you know, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not man's gospel."

Fr. Paul led Evensong in Jeffreyston Church. The morning readings were repeated and again in his sermon Fr. Paul expanded on the teaching of the conversion of the Apostle Paul.

He referenced Acts, chapter 7, and verse 58, which concerns the stoning of Stephen, which was approved by Saul, "Then they dragged him out of the city and began to stone him; and the witnesses laid their coats at the feet of a young man named Saul."

Again Fr. Paul said what a wonderful conversion it was for Saul to become the Apostle Paul.

Services for this Sunday, February 1, are: 11 am - Joint Parishes Eucharist and Confirmation with our Diocesan Rt. Rev. Bishop Wyn Evans, Jeffreyston; 6 pm - Evensong, Jeffreyston.
