The following matters were discussed at a meeting of Jeffreyston Community Council Council held recently:
Affordable housing: Mr. Matthew Owens, rural housing enabler, attended the meeting in order to provide members with details of the progress in respect of the provision of affordable housing in the area.
Mr. Owens stated that the council's preferred site, viz. land opposite Hillgate House, Jeffreyston, was currently being investigated by Pembrokeshire Housing Association. A feasibility study had not yet been undertaken, but it was anticipated this would be carried out in the next few months.
Mr. Owens referred to the candidate sites submitted to Pembrokeshire County Council for inclusion in the Local Development Plan and stated that it may be possible to provide affordable housing on one of the sites.
In response to questions, Mr. Owens reiterated that any affordable housing provided would be primarily for people living in the council's area or who had previously done so and wished to return.
Coffin Rest Cross: Members referred to the work undertaken to protect the Coffin Rest Cross opposite St. Oswald's School and agreed that a letter of thanks be sent to Pembrokeshire County Council.
Clr. Rev. N. P. Davies stated pupils of St. Oswald's School had been interested in the restoration of the cross and enquiries had been made as to whether the cross would now be re-dedicated. If there was to be any form of re-dedication the school would be interested in attending.
Clr. Rev. N. P. Davies was requested to investigate the possibility of some form of ceremony being held.
Planning applications: No objections were raised to planning applications in respect of an extension of 20 touring caravans at existing touring caravan park at Hungerford, Loveston and an extension to provide additional accommodation at Vicarage Farm, Cresselly.
Play area: A request was received from children resident in Jeffreyston for a new park. They requested that swings and a climbing frame be provided. They suggested that fund-raising, such as a sponsored walk be organised to raise the necessary funds.
