Jeffreyston village is an ancient settlement. The picturesque parish church, with its Norman tower, has recently been renovated, thanks to a grant from the Heritage Lottery. With an active community, the parish extends to Cresswell Quay. In the days when coffins were carried to church, the pall bearers needed to rest en route from Cresselly, so just before the rectory is the stone 'coffin rest' they used to use. Until the 1920s, Jeffreston Fair used to be held on the village green. Also harking back to the past is Jeffreyston House. This was a gentry house and its graceful arc of Georgian garden railings remains an elegant refinement.
