DILWATER PAIRS CUP
Taking a break from league action on Friday, December 10, players from the Jazz Radio-Tatung Tenby and District Darts League switched their attention to the Dilwater Pairs Cup. Played at two two-board venues, the competition saw only the winners from each board going through to the semi-finals, to be played later in the season. Kilgetty RAOB Club: board 1 - Rob Thomas and Itty Thomas (Crown P); board 2 - holders Steve Hughes and Chris Birch (Jeffreyston). Crown Inn, Penally: board 1 - Ray Muskett and James Williams (Swanlake); board 2 -Dave Legrice and Colwyn Harts (Jeffreyston).
Mike Feenan Memorial Shield
The following Friday, December 17, saw the Mike Feenan Memorial Shield held at the Cross, Penally. Played on two boards, a total of 26 players entered, including three ladies. It proved a keenly contested competition, with the two eventual board winners, Ray Muskett (Swanlake) and Les Hawting (Crown P), agreeing not to play-off, but to share the trophy and prize money. During the evening, excellent curry, chips and rice, with onion bargees, provided by landlady Chris, was on sale, with all proceeds going into the kitty. A raffle for a bottle of whisky, donated by Digger Brown, who competently ran the event, was won by Mike Hale (Crown P). Total proceeds from the night amounted to £130 for the Tenby branch RNLI. Among the highlights on the board, meanwhile, was a maximum 180 from Ray Muskett (Swanlake), who also produced the quickest game of the night, a 13-darter. Highest finish was recorded by Les Hawting (Crown P) with 116 out.
