Anyone who professes to like music, but will instinctively tell you they 'don't like jazz,' has obviously never spent a few hours in the company of the Keith Little Trio.

Their performance at the latest Fourcroft Jazz Brunch was a master class in great music and total relaxation.

You always know when you are in for a treat when it is more than obvious that the musicians are enjoying the atmosphere and performance as much as the audience.

Keith Little on piano. Mike Pincombe on drums and the charismatic Martin Butterworth on sax, clarinet and vocals gave a performance of classical standard 1930s American Jazz that was impossible not to enjoy.

On a beautiful autumn day in the intimate setting of the Ossie Morgan dining room at the Fourcroft, the highly accomplished trio swept their audience away from the recession or any other worries they may have and took them to paradise. They even had them dancing between the tables.

With the exception of a brilliant piano solo by Keith Little himself, the trio kept it pure and relaxed.

Martin Butterworth was a joy to listen to whether playing his instruments, singing or amusing the audience with his introductions or storys behind the songs.

Mike Pincombe was superb as always. To be able to perform this good in front of full house audience as comfortably as you would at a gathering of close friends or family takes a huge amount of talent. Believe me this is a very talented trio.

I have been to many Jazz Brunches at the Fourcroft and have seen and heard many incredible performances.

Never before have I witnessed an audience stop a band in mid-session to buy their latest CD and have a conversation with the drummer. It happened here and it just seemed so right. It was that relaxed. They also sold quite a few CDs and on the basis of their performance their sales were well-deserved.

Big thank you to Cath and Chris and the staff at the Fourcroft for a fantastic afternoon and for keeping music live.
