Jamaraz, a quartet who play swing and melodic mainstream jazz, are playing in Manorbier later this month. They have a repertoire drawn from George Gershwin, Richard Rodgers, Jerome Kern and company and tunes written more recently by jazz musicians such as Hank Mobley, Kenny Dorham and the quartet's own Tony Amaral. Jamaraz features Ajijo from Lampeter, on bass guitar, who is an exciting bass player who knows how to drive a band and how to solo. Tony Amaral from Portgual, who is a hugely accomplished musician and composer, now living in Pembrokeshire. Chris Rhyan plays tenor saxophone. Chris is a very sought-after player who works with a number of local bands. James Cambell plays cornet and fluglehorn and he's from Manorbier. The gig takes place on Saturday, May 26, at Manorbier Community Centre (next to YHA building) at 8 pm. There will be a licensed bar and locally produced tasty snacks available. Tickets are £5 for adults and they can be obtained by ringing (01834) 871931 or (01834) 871919. The event is being promoted by MADCAP, a local community arts group.
