Just five weeks after the launch of the Texaco Rotary Tsunami Charity Ball, which is being held at Folly Farm, Begelly, on Tuesday, just a handful of the 800 tickets are left. Alwyn James, manager of HSBC Bank, Pembroke, who has been handling ticket sales, said: "It has been hectic over the past few weeks, but with the help of my staff we have managed to post nearly 800 tickets, and we have been delighted to help." The ball will be staged in the North Arena at Folly Farm, and those attending will be met with a Bucks Fizz reception, followed by dinner and entertainment by the Syd Lawrence Orchestra. If you wish to secure one of the last tickets, please contact HSBC Bank, Main Street, Pembroke, or telephone the hotline on 01646 684037. During the evening, there will be an auction for a wedding gown to the value of £1,000, donated by the Bridal Collection, Pembroke Dock. And this week more auction items have been donated, in the form of a commemorative plate jug and bowl, which have been specially created for the ball by Glyn Coch Designs, of Tenby. Owners Rowland and Lou Evans saw the terrible events of Boxing Day on television and decided to help the charity ball. Rowland Evans said this week: "We decided to give our time as a meaningful way of helping and which hopefully will help raise funds for the appeal." Phil Thompson, Texaco, one of the event organisers, added: "We are delighted by the generosity and support from all over Pembrokeshire for the Tsunami Appeal Ball and we can guarantee everyone attending a great night's entertainment."
