The next meeting of the South East Pembrokeshire Community Health Network will be held at the New Hedges Village Hall on Tuesday, June 18, at 2 pm, when the question of whether the MIU in Tenby is to close or not will be discussed, as there continues to be major confusion on the matter.
The community of this area is opposed to the Health Board MIU closure decision and the GPs in a recent meeting stated that they cannot accommodate such additional pressure.
Yet the Community Health Council has agreed with the Hywel Dda Health Board to the transfer of MIU services to GPs surgeries. Where does this leave the decision?
There is now news of there being exploratory investigations into MIU provision in Cornwall where the MIU services are far more effectively developed, but no detail has yet emerged of this.
If you would like to hear of the most recent developments and help support the retention of a most valued local health service, then why not come along to the meeting. The fight to retain the MIU is not yet over.
