FORTY-six-year-old Chris Brace took part in his second Ironman Wales as his final event in his challenge to raise funds for Bloodwise.

Chris set-up his fundraising appeal after his best friend, fellow sportsman Simon Rossiter was diagnosed in May with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma cancer.

Chris and Simon had planned to take part in the Cotswolds middle distance triathlon, Long Course Weekend and Ironman Wales, but when Simon was taken ill with cancer and he had to pull out, Chris vowed to continue and raise funds for the Bloodwise charity, which supports Simon’s type of cancer.

“What a fantastic day made even more special due to the fact that we have now raised over £10,000 for the Bloodwise charity and there are still donations to be collected,” said Chris.

“The supporters and marshals were absolutely awesome throughout the whole day, making it an unbelievable experience.”

He continued: “On behalf of Simon, Bloodwise and myself, we would like say a massive thank you to everyone that has raised money or donated to the Bloodwise charity, the amount raised is due to your kind generosity and we salute you all.”
