ONE competitor in the 2012 Ironman Wales event was Simon Batty who decided that he would take part to raise funds for Tenby RNLI.
He completed the course in 13 hours 51 minutes.
This was a fantastic achievement considering that 12 months previously Simon had not ridden a bike for 15 years, never competed in a swimming race, not run more than four miles in the last 20 years, plus the fact that he was twostone overweight.
Simon is seen in the picture with his two children holding a cheque for £2,086.25 which he presented to Tenby RNLI.
