Sir,
It would appear that there is a 'clique' of councillors at PCC who represent interests other than those of the people who elected them. It is time to hold a detailed inquiry into their conduct and to expose whatever it is they prefer to hold secret to the extent that certain notes and committee records are considered necessary to be destroyed.
The following is an extract from the last edition of 'Private Eye', a magazine well known for being a 'watchdog' in public affairs.
"Open Government Update. 'Members voted 15 to 8 in favour of approving the application. There is no record of how any individual member voted and the committee clerk's notes had been destroyed in accordance with the council's Freedom of Information policy . . .' from the Public Services Ombudsman for Wales's report into a complaint of maladministration against Pembrokeshire County Council."
If maladministration exists in the function of PCC it must be exposed and 'rooted out'. It is hoped that the media will play its part in ensuring that their readers and the electorate of Pembrokeshire are duly informed of the facts.
Grahame Barrett, Carew.
