Last week, Pembroke Dock Senior Guide Group were delighted to receive five Duke of Edinburgh recommended rucksacks donated by the Inner Wheel Club of Pembroke and presented by junior vice-president Jane Davies and president Evelyn MacCallum The guides in the photo will be using them as they work towards their various challenges to gain either their Bronze or Silver Duke of Edinburgh Challenge Award. We wish them every success. To gain the Bronze Award (14-plus years), the Guides have to participate in volunteering and physical skills for a minimum of three months each, as well as plan, train and undertake a two-day, one night expedition. For the Silver Award (15-plus years), the Guides have to participate in volunteering and physical skills, must complete one of these skills for six months and the other for three months, as well as plan, train for and undertake a three-day, two-night expedition Victoria, Nicola and Charlotte are part of the Silver Challenge group who have working towards this on the Preseli Hills. The rucksacks will be christened, literally, as the forecast indicates frequent heavy showers. The Bronze Challenge Guides are Sarah Felton, Meredith Fletcher, Jess Hathaway, Rebecca MacCallum and Eve Rodemer, who will be training for their expedition once they've completed their current skills challenges.
