President Anne opened the November business meeting with a warm 'welcome back' to Margaret Peake. She then reported on the various events which she had attended on behalf of the club. The fund-raising 'Antiques Galore' had been a most enjoyable evening, supported by many friends and local Inner Wheel Clubs. Mr. Gary Humphries, of Haverfordwest, gave brief but very informative talk on the pleasures and pitfalls of buying and selling antiques. He then discussed and valued items that members of the audience had brought along, to the surprised delight of some and disappointment of others. He was warmly thanked by Meryl Sharp. The evening raised well over £200 for prostate and testicular cancer charities. Amongst the correspondence were invitations to coffee mornings and a Christmas card from the association president. A request for funding had been received from the 'Choir of Gentlemen', who are giving a a gala concert in May 2005, to raise money for equipment for Withybush Hospital's Breast Cancer and Orthopaedic Units. It was agreed to donate £100. Overseas organiser Marnie Owens reported that 14 blankets and 24 vests would be taken to the District meeting. Members had filled boxes for Operation Christmas Child, and two videos of the children receiving their boxes were shown at the end of the meeting. Their smiles said it all. There will be an overseas 'Bring and Buy' in aid of the District Overseas Charity on January 24. Congratulations were extended to Ray Lowe and Gill O'Hagan on the birth of their grandchildren and to Lillian Lowe on being 'Super Gran' once again. The club is hoping to organise a luxury trip to the Cheltenham Gold Cup next year. Details later. The speaker at the Birthday Dinner on November 24 will be Ruth Webb. This is always a happy occasion, as is the club's Christmas dinner on December 13. This year, the venue is Carringtons Restaurant and the speaker will be Mrs. Mallams.
