The Inner Wheel Club of Tenby met at the Fourcroft Hotel on Monday. President Margaret welcomed everyone back after the Christmas break and expressed great pleasure in enrolling Mrs. Ellen Jones as a new member into the club. A business meeting followed, during which events that had taken place over the Christmas period were discussed. Many members had attended the Rotary and Inner Wheel Carol Service at St. Mary's Church. Betty Ramsey, Meryl Sharpe and president Margaret had distributed gifts of biscuits to the Cottage Hospital and the local residential homes. Marnie Owens had taken a table at the De Valence Christmas Fayre. The money raised was for overseas charities. Members baked Welsh cakes at New Hedges. Betty Charnock collected and despatched 509 Christmas boxes to the overseas charity, Operation Christmas Child. Margaret Jones, accompanied by Margaret Peake and Meryl Sharpe, presented a cheque for £500 to Mr. David Harries, chairman of the HOPE Centre, Neyland. The recently retired treasurer of the charity, Mrs. Iris Terry, was also present. Forthcoming events include a visit to the St. David's Hotel, Cardiff, on April 5. This is called 'The Ascot Hat' and is a demonstration of hat-making by HM The Queen's milliner. Members wishing to attend are asked to contact Mary Fleming. Rotary and Inner Wheel Day on Sunday, January 8, was celebrated by a church service at St. Johns, followed by lunch at the Fourcroft. Sue has tickets for the charity fish and chip supper at the Pam Pam on February 1, from 7.30 pm onwards. She can be contacted on 843237. The tickets are £8.50 and all proceeds are for START. The next meeting will be a bring and buy sale at the Fourcroft, on February 13, in aid of overseas charities. Friends are very welcome.
