For the third consecutive year, the Milford Haven Waterway hosted a group of disadvantaged children from inner-city London, who visited Pembrokeshire and took part in a number of activities facilitated by Pembrokeshire Adventure Centre.

The visit was made possible by a partnership formed between Milford Haven Port and the Children's Holiday Charity 'CCHF - All About Kids', who are a Sussex based charity that have been established for 127 years. The charity was set up to improve the quality of the lives of disadvantaged children and help them recognise their potential in a safe and happy environment.

Twenty-two children, all aged between eight and 12 and coming from the most deprived areas of inner-city London, stayed at Pembrokeshire Adventure Centre for a few nights from June 29 and enjoyed an action-packed week involving kayaking, raft-building, wall climbing and visits to nearby beaches. They also had the opportunity to go onboard Irish Ferries' Isle of Inishmore whilst it was docked at Pembroke Port which was a real highlight for the children.

Lydia Davis, chief executive of CCHF All About Kids, commented: "`Coming to Pembrokeshire gives the children such a fantastic opportunity to take part in activities they wouldn't normally have the chance to do as well as experiencing the wonderful countryside."

Stella Hooper, Milford Haven Port's community liaison officer, added: "This year the programme has been extended so that in October, another group of children can benefit from this visit to Pembrokeshire. We believe this is a worthwhile cause that gives a different perspective on life to children who come from very disadvantaged backgrounds. It also gives us the chance to show off the fabulous Milford Haven Waterway and the stunning Pembrokeshire coastline."
