Tenby's all-weather lifeboat the Haydn Miller was launched shortly after 2.15 pm on Thursday with a paramedic aboard following a report from the ambulance service that an 18-year-old man had fallen just west of the High Cliff Quarry on Caldey Island, badly fracturing his ankle.
The lifeboat also had seven of Tenby's coastguard team aboard to provide assistance.
Once at Caldey, the Y-boat was launched to take the paramedic ashore to assess the casualty.
The Y-boat returned to the lifeboat to bring Tenby coastguard team ashore to mark a helicopter landing site on the beach.
The casualty was then taken via Helimed 57 to Withybush Hospital for treatment. The lifeboat returned to station.
