A 14-year-old youth was airlifted to Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest, on Friday, after sustaining a suspected fractured ankle on Tenby's North Beach. The boy, on holiday with his parents from Newport, fell when his leg was caught in a hole dug in the sand. First aid was administered by beach lifeguard Josh Holden, while ambulance and coastguard assistance was summoned. Ambulance control tasked air ambulance 'Helimed 57A' to the scene, as the land ambulances had a high level of commitments. MRSC Milford Haven coastguard tasked the Tenby Coastguard rescue team (CRT), who, supported by the beach lifeguards, maintained a secure landing area on the beach for the helicopter, and then assisted the paramedics to recover the injured boy in a stretcher.
