A holidaymaker was airlifted to hospital on Monday evening after falling while on Caldey Island.
Tenby's all-weather lifeboat was called to the monastic isle with paramedics aboard after a visitor staying in the guesthouse fell down some steps at one of the churches on the island.
The alarm was raised at approximately 7.30 pm and on arrival, the lifeboat crew, accompanied by paramedics, made their way up to the guesthouse where the casualty had managed to hobble back to.
He was in a lot of pain and was suffering from a suspected broken pelvis, so the safest and most comfortable way off the island was deemed to be by air.
Therefore, RAF helicopter Rescue 169 from Chivenor was summoned.
As 169 was en route, the casualty was made comfortable and given necessary pain relief by paramedics.
When the helicopter arrived, the casualty was placed on a stretcher and taken in the back of a Land Rover for the threequarters-of-a-mile journey to the landing pad at the lighthouse.
Once in the helicopter, the casualty was taken to Withybush Hospital, accompanied by one of the paramedics.
The lifeboat then returned to Tenby with the remaining paramedic.
