Whitland Town Council recently met to discuss the forthcoming precept.
No increase was made in the financial year 2012/13 when the precept was kept at £33,720, but due to the council's forthcoming enhancements to the facilities in the town, the precept for 2013/14 will be £37,200. This will mean an increase of £5 per year for a Band D property.
This precept will include the cost of upkeep of the public conveniences and also towards the cost of a community organiser, to be shared with St. Clears Town Council. This person's salary will be grant-funded and both town councils have agreed to contribute to local travel expenses.
Some items of yearly expenditure remain the same and councillors agreed the Mayor's allowance be reduced.
A budget for flooding issues was considered and this topic will be on the agenda for the next town council meeting on February 4.
