Inconsiderate parking in a Pembrokeshire village, continues to spill into housing estates, affecting the elderly and those less able bodied, a county councillor for the ward has stated.
Saundersfoot’s south ward representative, Cllr Chris Williams said that he had been to Brooklands Close in the seaside village ‘numerous times’ over the past month to look at issues the local residents are dealing with daily.
“Unfortunately parking is at a premium in the village and people have been parking in the residents’ allocated spots,” he said.
“Most of the residents have carers going in twice a day while three of the bungalows have motability cars to help them get around.
“Unfortunately, people have been parking in their spaces and they have had to park elsewhere, and have then struggled to walk to their properties.”
With this in mind, Cllr Williams said that he’d held a meeting and are now considering looking at moving the residents parking sign, so it’s more prominent and also put in extra bollards to discourage parking.
“This is a challenge, and I also have another meeting with housing representatives with regard to make the place a safer and better environment for its residents,” he continued.
“Unfortunately parking brings its own problems and a few times the outbursts are directed at the innocent residents who live there.”
