Work to improve Saundersfoot harbour car park has been praised by one of the seaside village’s county councillors.

Cllr Chris Williams said that he had recently had a meeting with the harbour master and the CEO regarding the new layout of the parking on the harbour.

Resurfacing work saw the facility closed for a period over May, with the improvements funded by Welsh Government and EU Funding Bodies.

It was promised that the new layout would reduce blind spots, increase pedestrian pathways, and include the provision of EV charging stations.

As well as increasing car bay sizes, and introducing additional disabled parking bays, the promenade will benefit from new planters, and direct pedestrian and wheelchair access from the car park and Ocean Square, improving accessibility.

“What is pleasing is that it feels much safer walking around,” said Cllr Williams.

“The crossing point from the Plaza to the sea front is now safe for all pedestrians. The parking spaces are bigger to accommodate the modern cars.

“It is unfortunate that we have lost 10 spaces but the general feel is that it is so much safer,” he added.
