PEOPLE in Pembrokeshire are being asked to dig into their families' lives to see if there is a hidden story there that could be turned into a book. If you have a family member or a friend who has done or experienced something in their lives that deserves to be put on record, you can nominate their story in a new national competition.

The Book of My Life competition has been launched by specialist heritage insurer Ecclesiastical. Anyone can nominate someone they think has a real-life story that would make interesting reading. The winner will be interviewed by a professional author and their story will be turned into a short book.

Clare Pardy, fine art and heritage underwriter for Ecclesiastical and chair of the judging panel, said: "From the Great Depression to the Swinging Sixties, from the Battle of Britain to the Miners' Strike, this country has in living memory witnessed more social, cultural, political and industrial change than any other period. We're looking for people with first-hand experiences that should be recorded for future generations. Our aim is to find the sort of personal stories that give a human perspective on the times they have lived in and ensure that they take their rightful place in the history of our times."

Details of how to enter someone for Book of My Life are on the Ecclesiastical Insurance website at http://www.ecclesiastical.com/bookofmylife">www.ecclesiastical.com/bookofmylife. Entries close at the end of April and the winner's book will be published in June. Copies of the book will be given free to the winner and their family and friends, with volumes also being donated to local heritage organisations, libraries and museums.
