In the week when it was announced that Dŵr Cymru/Welsh Water has been fined £1.35 million after pleading guilty to over 800 breaches of its environmental permits to discharge sewage - hundreds took to a Pembrokeshire beach to join national protests all over the UK to send a loud and clear message to end sewage pollution in our waters.

A numbers of protestors joined this year’s Paddle Out Protest at Broad Haven beach on Saturday (May 17) organised by Surfers Against Sewage and Pembrokeshire Water Protectors.

Residents, surfers, families, and environmental advocates gathered on the beach to fight for their rights to clean and safe water.

Surfers Against Sewage (SAS) shared on social media: “The Cymru crew sending the message loud and clear to Welsh Water - end sewage pollution, now!

“Epic work by the communities in Pembrokeshire who paddled out in force.”

Pembrokeshire Water Protectors stated: “Thank you to everyone that made today possible!

“We had a fantastic turn out for our Paddle Out Protest. Thank you all for making the effort to come.

“We hope you are feeling empowered to make a difference, and will look up SAS, write to your AM and MP, and continue to refuse to accept the sh*tty situation our beautiful oceans are in.”
