How have weddings changed over the last 100 years? It's a question Narberth Museum's latest exhibition 'To Have and to Hold: a Celebration of Narberth Weddings' will try to answer. The exhibition (June 4-9) will look at the development of Welsh courting customs and beliefs. An array of wedding dresses, spanning nearly two centuries, will illustrate changing fashions, while photographs, press cuttings and memorabilia will highlight significant local weddings. Floral arrangements by members of St. Andrew's Church will complete the display. Visitors to the exhibition will be asked to record their own stories and tips for a happy marriage. The exhibition has been made possible by a grant from PAVS for which the museum is very grateful. During the week, other related events will be taking place. On Sunday, June 3, a Service of Thanksgiving for Marriage will be held at St. Andrew's Church at 10 am. On Wednesday, June 6, at 7 pm, again in St. Andrew's Church, there will be 'An Evening of Readings and Music'. Poetry and prose by well- known writers with music to complement the theme will trace the changing nature of love throughout our lives. It promises to be a delightful occasion for which tickets at £5 can be bought at the door. On Saturday, June 9, the Friends will be holding a wedding breakfast, a variation on their popular paperback breakfasts. This will be in the museum bookshop from 10 - 11.30 am and admission will be £3.50 to include coffee, croissant and book swap! Children are invited to enter the museum's 'Wooden Spoon Wedding' competition. Details of this and all the events can be obtained from Narberth Museum Bookshop, 11 Market Street, Narberth. Tel.
