Pembrokeshire County Council has launched a hotline number to deal with enquiries from members of the public relating to all the authority's municipal services.
Capable of handling 200 calls a day, the Pembrokeshire Serviceline is based at the council's main operational depot at Thornton in Milford Haven.
It can deal with a wide range of topics, from potholes in the road to damaged playground areas and blocked council house drains.
The number to ring is 0845 602 1386 and the hotline is open from 8 am to 6 pm Monday to Friday and from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday. It does not operate on Sundays or Bank Holidays.
The phones are answered by two customer service clerks who can take details of requests for service or complaints. They are also able to route calls through to the appropriate section of the council. All calls are recorded on screen and the outcome of the request or complaint is logged.
"The Pembrokeshire Serviceline offers a much improved service to our customers," explained Fred Mountney, the authority's head of municipal services.
"The main advantage is that instead of a caller being passed from one council department to another, as happened previously, there is now one point of contact for all municipal enquiries."
The section encompasses a vast array of county council services, including highway maintenance, refuse collection, abandoned vehicles, bulky household waste collection, recycling and civic amenity sites, grounds and play area maintenance, street lighting, public toilets cleaning, litter clearance and unblocking drains for council house tenants.
"It is a county-wide service and will enable the council to respond much more quickly to requests for help, even quicker than ringing their local council depot" said Mr. Mountney.
Calls to the Pembrokeshire Serviceline are charged at a local rate.
