A Tenby hotelier was fined last week for failing to notify the DVLA that a vehicle in his possesion was off the road.

Graham Fry, proprietor of the Royal Gatehouse, appeared before magistrates in Haverfordwest last Thursday.

The vehicle in question was a six-wheeler Renault-Dodge, the type used on the Continent as a snow plough.

Mr. Fry explained that it took him longer than expected to obtain parts to complete the MoT, and that although the vehicle went into the garage six days before the tax expired, it was off the road for three months whilst he awaited the parts.

Although the DVLA informed Mr. Fry he had 90 days, the court heard this applied to the motor trade and that indiviadual motorists had only a day before submitting a statutory off-road notification.

Mr. Fry was given a six-month conditional discharge with costs of £45.
