Tenby's new multi-million pound cottage hospital in Gas Lane began operating on Monday. And first reactions from patients and staff have been 'very positive'. The Minor Injuries Unit and x-ray facilities have been busy since day one, while outpatient clinics and services which have been running at the facility have included family planning, paediatrics, orthopedics and podiatry. The dietician has also been holding clinics. "The week has gone remarkably calmly and everyone has settled in well," lead nurse, Tilly Morrisey told the Observer. "We have had lots of positive feedback from both patients and staff who are delighted with the pleasant atmosphere at the hospital and the facilities there." Staff are also pleased with the response from patients who are asked to register their car registrations at the reception desk on arrival in a bid to prevent any parking problems. Other services will continue to evolve at the £4.1 million building, with day care for 15 clients beginning early next month.
