St. Govans, Tenby, Manorbier and Castlemartin Coastguards were tasked to assist the ambulance service with a 22-year-old female who had fallen from her horse on the beach at Freshwater East, a week last Monday afternoon.

After initial treatment by paramedics, the casualty, who had suffered a head injury, was conveyed across the beach in the coastguard 4x4 to an awaiting ambulance and taken to Withybush Hospital.

Unfortunately, the horse had suffered a broken leg and had to be humanely destroyed by a local vet. The young lady was from the Manorbier area.
