A horse rider was airlifted to hospital on Bank Holiday Monday after falling off her horse at Pendine Beach.

The 32-year-old woman was one of a group riding along the shoreline near Gilman Point just after 4.30 pm when she swerved to avoid a fellow rider who had fallen and came off her horse as well.

Hypothermic and suffering from lower lumbar pains, the woman, who is from Lawrenny, was assisted into the Welsh Air Ambulance by paramedics and members of Tenby coastguard unit, before being flown to Withybush Hospital, Haverfordwest.
