A holidaymaker visiting Tenby over the Christmas and New Year period has given ‘refreshing’ feedback to local councillors on the resort’s festive efforts.
Correspondence from Shaun Fitton, of Bury in Lancashire, who stayed with his family in Tenby for five days post-Christmas, came before members of the town council at their meeting on Tuesday night.
“I would just like to comment on how festive the town looked and the Christmas lights were fantastic!” he wrote.
“I live in Bury, and the Christmas lights in our town have been victim of budget cuts, they are almost non-existent, therefore, it was lovely to see Tenby still making an effort with theirs.
“We have been coming to Tenby for many years in the summer and we will now be making an extra visit each year to experience the festive atmosphere in your fantastic town,” he added, urging all involved to ‘keep up the good work’.
The Mayor, Clr. Mrs. Sue Lane, told her fellow councillors how ‘nice and refreshing’ it was to receive such a letter, before suggesting that they respond to Mr. Fitton and tell them all about the special event the town holds in the build up to Christmas, when Santa arrives via lifeboat to turn the resort’s festive lights on.
“After all the stick we’ve had from certain people, it’s nice to hear this positive view,” remarked Clr. Mrs. Tish Rossiter.
