Rose Blackburn extended thanks to all who supported the quiz night and especially to the ladies of the committee for providing the excellent buffet. £140 was raised for society funds.

The History Society’s next event will take place on Saturday morning, October 7, in Pembroke Town Hall. There will be a discussion of future projects, including the next statue on a proposed statue trail following the success of the Henry VII statue.

A Pembroke Town Council regeneration project, the statue appeal was led by town councillors and society trustees, Linda Asman and Rose Blackburn, and the History Society played a major part in fundraising and hosting of events.

Views of members are appreciated and can be aired at the event which will include a talk by Alex Powell, of PCNP, on the subject of Carew Castle and Rhys ap Thomas, the man who allegedly killed Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth.

Talks begin at 10.30 am, but the morning begins at 10 am with a get-together and coffee morning serving coffee, tea and homemade cakes.
