Firefighters from Carmarthenshire have welcomed a visit from Wales’ High Sheriffs.

On Friday, June 20, Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service (MAWWFRS) welcomed the High Sheriff of West Glamorgan Diana Stroia, High Sheriff of Dyfed Ann Jones DL and High Sheriff of Powys Sally Roberts for an annual visit to Service Headquarters and Carmarthen Fire Station.

All three High Sheriffs are newly sworn and were eager to learn more about how the Service works and the support provided to the communities firefighters serve.

They initially met with Chief Fire Officer Roger Thomas who introduced them to Executive Leadership Team, where they discussed the Emergency Response, Prevention and Protection work and the Community Risk Management Plan (CRMP 2040).

This was followed by a tour of Carmarthen Fire Station, where they had the opportunity to meet representatives from the Community Safety team who provided some examples of the work they do to keep our communities safe.

To round off the afternoon, the crew from Carmarthen Fire Station provided an overview of the specialist kit and equipment carried on frontline appliances.

“We would like to thank all three High Sheriffs for taking time to come visit us and we look forward to seeing them again in the future,” said a spokesperson.
