The singing of Saturday evening continued on Sunday afternoon with more popular hymns and songs in Carringtons Restaurant, below the Atlantic Hotel.
During the service, the pastor, Rev. Peter Richmond, read the story of the Vineyard found in Isaiah 5. The vineyard is a picture of Biblical Israel, fenced in and protected by God's laws, watched over by the Priests and Levites, with the Temple at Jerusalem as His winepress.
Yet the story tells how despite all this provision, the grapes grew to be wild and unpleasant, until the owner decided to tear down the fences and give the land over to grazing.
Peter quoted Jesus' version of the story and interpreted the warning for the modern church. "Isaiah says God expects us to choose righteousness and we never seem able to do that consistently. God never forces us to choose the God channel. In our freedom, we act like children who forget to be grateful, who take for granted God's faithfulness."
"There are many churches taught by apostates who deny the authority of scripture, or the resurrection - but there are just as many good sound evangelical churches where the people are not changing, not doing the will of God."
He continued: "The book of Revelation was and is written to Christian believers, yet in it we have the image of the Lord standing at the door and knocking, waiting for a response."
