There were celebrations all round recently as Mark Heron, Musical Director of The Paul Sartori Community Choir, successfully completed the Newport Marathon, marking both a personal milestone and a fantastic achievement for the Pembrokeshire charity.

Mark, who is at the heart of the Community Choir, is known for keeping voices uplifted and spirits high, all in support of the charity. But his commitment doesn’t stop at the conductor’s stand. Over the years, he has regularly gone the extra mile - quite literally - to raise vital funds for the Foundation, making him a true community champion.

This year’s challenge was particularly meaningful, as Mark is celebrating a special birthday. As he humorously hinted beforehand, “it begins with a 5 and ends in a 0!” To mark the occasion, he decided to do something extraordinary: take on his very first full marathon.

Having already conquered six half marathons and numerous other races, the Newport Marathon on April 19 represented a significant step up.

Covering 26.2 miles, it demanded months of preparation, dedication, and determination, all of which Mark embraced with his trademark enthusiasm.

On race day, Mark rose to the occasion, successfully completing the course and achieving the goal he had set himself as part of his milestone celebrations.

Thanks to his efforts and the generosity of those who supported him, Mark has raised an incredible £1,119 for the Paul Sartori Foundation.

This contribution will help the charity continue delivering its vital services within the local community.

Whether leading the choir in song or taking on challenges like the Newport Marathon, Mark continually inspires those around him to get involved, give back, and support a cause that touches so many lives.

Everyone at the Paul Sartori Foundation extends their heartfelt congratulations to Mark on completing his first marathon and thanks him for his continued dedication.
