Last year, Victim Support Dyfed offered assistance to more than 2,000 victims of crime in Pembrokeshire. That's one of the astonishing facts contained in the charity's annual report which will be unveiled at an annual meeting on November 27. Their volunteers made more than 800 visits to support Dyfed's victims, while staff assisted 120 victims with claims for compensation, most of them successful.

"The ordeal of victims can continue long after the crime is committed, even if the offender is brought to justice," said Vicki Hains, chair of Victim Support Dyfed. "Many victims find that talking to someone from outside their family helps them recover faster, and Victim Support's volunteers and staff give practical advice too."

Victim Support assists victims of any crime, whether or not the police have been informed. Their service is confidential and free. For more information, please contact Victim Support on (01437) 763593 or the national helpline 0845 3030900.
