Dinefwr 149 (18 pts.)
Heatherton 83 (4)
Heatherton slumped to defeat at the hands of Dinefwr at Ammanford on Saturday.
Now in fourth position in the West Division of the WIBA Club Championship, the team did, however, manage to salvage four points, thanks to wins from the rinks skipped by Alan Whitehouse and Colin Wynn.
The team do not have a game tomorrow (Saturday) because of a group championship match at Pontardawe IBC when Heatherton will be represented by John Roberts, Paul Diment and Alan Whitehouse. Mike Jackson has also been named as one of the reserves.
junior pairs
Saturday saw three junior pairs from Heatherton travel to Ogwr IBC for the West Zone junior pairs.
For Luke Rees and Adam Hensman, it was an early start, but a steady one, and they were four-all after five ends, but then dropped a count of four. With good drawing bowls by both players, they drew level and then pulled away to win 14 shots to eight.
Gemma Amos and Joe Dennis also had an early breakfast and were quickly into their game. Gemma continued to put up good jacks and after taking a five on the sixth end, they never looked in danger and finished 16 shots to three winners.
In the second round, Luke and Adam came up against a very good pair and with all four players bowling well, it was a close game.
However, the Ogwr pair took advantage of their own rink and moved away to win over the last couple of ends. This was a good performance by Luke and Adam.
Gemma and Joe also came up against a good pair in Jess Hooper and Leon Booth. The Heatherton pair took an early lead, but saw it gradually reduced. However, they went into the final end all-square, but sadly just lost out on a measure by one shot to go down 12-11.
Both Joe and Gemma will feel they should have progressed further.
For Liam Price and Ysie White, it was a midday start as they had a bye in the first round. After an early scare, both players settled to bowl the woods they are both capable of. On the ninth end, Liam drew the jack back to make a five and ensured a good win which puts them through to the quarter-finals. This pair are quite capable of progressing further.
Junior trial
Congratulations to Ysie White who has been selected for an Under 25s Welsh trial at Cynon Valley on December 14.
