Climbers at Heatherton World of Activities recently set themselves the challenge of scaling their new climbing wall, the equivalent to climbing Mount Everest at 8,850 metres.
The climbers, who were nearly all staff from Heatherton, plus friends and family, achieved this in a little over 13 hours of continuous climbing, making over 800 ascents of the 11-metre wall.
The event raised £838.50 for Help for Heroes charity, something very close to the hearts of Heatherton as one of their ex-staff members, Nick Webster Smith, was killed in Afghanistan last November.
The new, state-of-the-art climbing facility is an extension to the already successful Tree Tops Adventure Trail and the climbingmarathon was the first event to take place at the new climbing facility.
Help for Heroes was founded by Bryn and Emma Parry in October 2007 out of a desire to help the wounded servicemen and women returning from Afghanistan and Iraq.
