The Health Challenge Pembrokeshire Roadshow, which visited six Pembrokeshire communities in a week, generated a healthy response from local people. The Roadshow visited Crymych, Neyland, Fishguard, St. David's, Narberth and Saundersfoot between July 4 and 12 offering support to residents on a range of health and well-being issues. Health and social care professionals and other support staff gave advice on healthy eating, physical activity, accident prevention, teeth cleaning, reducing alcohol consumption, stopping smoking and emotional well-being. Among the highlights were: nutritious mouth- watering treats cooked up by celebrity chef Dudley Newbery in Fishguard and Narberth; a bracing Steps2Health walk down to the harbour in Goodwick; having a go at Tai-Chi; moving to music with U3A members in Neyland and finding out what is in cigarettes with Year 9 pupils at Ysgol Dewi Sant. Health Challenge Pembrokeshire is a partnership of organisations working together to improve health and well-being in the County. Partners include Pembrokeshire County Council, the Pembrokeshire Local Health Board, Pembrokeshire and Derwen NHS Trust, the National Public Health Service, Pembrokeshire Association of Voluntary Services and the Community Health Council. This year's roadshow was also supported by the Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Pembrokeshire MIND and Care and Repair. Clr. Sian James, cabinet member for health and well-being said it had had a positive response from people, including many school pupils. "I feel people are becoming more aware of the things they need to do to improve their health and well-being.
