Scuba diving, swimming in the sea and volleyball are some of the calorie busting activities that will allow gym lovers to work out on the beach.

Online healthy food retailers Musclefood.com have compiled a guide to the ultimate beach workout to help Brits travelling abroad figure out which seaside activities will help them shed those excess calories consumed on holiday.

The guide lists how many calories the average Brit could burn by doing each activity for one hour, and includes beach volleyball, a game of football in the sand and going for a run along the beach.

There are also plenty of water activities and sports that can help you burn calories without breaking a sweat, such as scuba diving, swimming in the ocean and water skiing.

Darren Beale, from Musclefood.com, said: “We put so much time and energy into getting our ideal beach-body, so it seems a shame that most Brits scrap their work outs as soon as they reach their holiday destination.

“The amount of food and drink we consume on holiday can really begin to pile up, especially if you’re staying in an all-inclusive resort, so its important to find ways to burn off those calorific meals.

“Of course, it’s unlikely you’ll want to spend your time abroad trapped indoors at the gym, so getting down to the beach and enjoying a fun seaside workout is a great way to enjoy your holiday whilst burning off those extra calories.

“It’s almost expected that we come back from our trips carrying a little extra holiday weight, but if you manage to get in an hour of beach volleyball or a run by the coastline then you might find yourself returning home without any unwanted extra baggage.”
